  1. Tai Chi for rehabilitation 5 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Sep 2023

Being an instructor for TCA and TCR I use my DVDs regularly to review my practice and keep my standards up. I encourage my students to have their own copy and practice at home. I love the way you can find a particular movement easily and just practice that or do a full practice.

  2. Share the inspiration and motivation 5 Star Review

I recently purchased the DVD of Tai Chi for Rehabilitation to gift to a friend, an active older lady, who recently had an unexpected critical medical incident including a brain infection and a resulting stroke.
She is currently attending twice weekly Rehabilitation sessions at the local hospital.
She had a fleeting experience with Tai Chi a few years ago but didn't pursue it.
We often chat about my belief in Tai Chi and in particular the passion, empathy, knowledge and commitment by Dr Lam.
Last week I gave her the DVD gift. She is slowly starting to practise by watching the DVD.
I will keep on gently encouraging her to do this so it will complement her rehabilitation and support her to get back on track with her recovery.

  3. Perfect introduction for those with limited physical capabilities. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Feb 2019

I am in my early thirties and for the past two years I have been undertaking physical rehabilitation to recover from severe physical de-conditioning after the effects of a viral infection left me house bound for four years. I also developed a chronic pain condition, fibromyalgia, during this time which has further complicated my rehab process.

My physiotherapist recently introduced me to the world of Dr. Lam and recommended that I try tai chi as he had read a study about the positive effects it can have on pain conditions. I began trialling the first lesson of 'Tai Chi for Beginners' posted on Dr. Lam's You Tube channel. This was quite challenging for me so I began exploring the website and discovered 'Tai Chi for Rehabilitation'.

This video is perfect for anyone with limited physical capabilities as it breaks down each movement into clear and manageable steps and provides options for those who need to sit, or lean on a chair etc., to assist with balance. This made it so much easier for me to start learning tai chi. Over time I have slowly begun to feel improvements in my balance, strength and control which is wonderful motivation for my physical recovery. The slow, controlled and calm nature of the movements and breathing patterns have also had a positive effect on my pain condition as it helps me to remember to slow down, breathe calm my mind and release muscle tension.

I would highly recommend this video as an entry point to tai chi for anyone with significant physical limitations or suffering from chronic pain (obviously with doctor/physio approval). It has definitely helped me and I thank Dr. Lam and his team for the thought and attention to detail they have invested in the development of these tools. I am still working on "Tai Chi for Rehabilitation" but one day I hope to be writing a review for "The 24 Forms" or even "The Combined 42 Forms!" We'll have to wait and see, but I hope this review will help anyone else struggling with a similar situation to start feeling better with tai chi.

  4. TCR dvds for class paricipants 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th May 2018

My tai chi class in Moree, NSW, is a consistent group of 9-10 participants each week. Of this group 8 of the participants have brought a TCR dvd, so they can practice at home or whilst travelling. They have been thrilled with their purchases and very appreciative of the opportunity to buy the dvds.

  5. Another Dr Lam success 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Mar 2016

I now have 5 of Dr Lam's series plus a book and chart, and I find them so useful. I bought this one as I am shortly to go for a hip replacement, but it has been useful in my pre op programme of gentle exercise too. I just love his way of teaching and his programmes really help.

  6. Tai chi for blessing 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Sep 2015

I am in the process of learning very slowly "waving hands in the clouds". I am very much looking forward to practice that form every day and then, learn the next form.
Dr Lam gives the essence of his art both as a doctor and as a tai chi master.
He has such a long habit of teaching tai chi to people with health issues that I feel very empowered and trustful.
I have had for five years peripheral neuropathy in the legs and feet that probably are a complication of a newly diagnostized diabetes.
I hope tai chi will help me cope better with these difficult sensations.
I chose Tai chi for rehabilitation because somebody in Dr Bernstein's forum was a student of Paul Lam and said that this DVD was the most recent and that it contained the essence of Dr Lam's experience with teaching tai chi for health purposes.
    Congratulations and gratitude.

The explanations are easy to follow and information important for those who are rehabilitating.
