Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA)-12 lessons with Dr Lam - recommended by CDC (Scroll down to see the free first lesson)

In 1996, Dr Lam with a team of medical and tai chi experts created this safe and easy to learn program. Medical studies confirm Tai Chi for Arthritis relieves pain, reduces falls and improves quality of life, that is why the Arthritis organisations around the world advocate this program and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (www.CDC.gov) recommends it for fall prevention.

What is special about this DVD is that you will feel as though you are participating in Dr Lam’s class. After a brief introduction of what Tai Chi for Arthritis is and how this DVD can benefit you, Dr Lam will teach you with step-by-step instructions, lead you to practice and explain the reason behind every move. At the conclusion of the DVD Dr Lam will demonstrate the set from both front and back views. The unique music was composed with the rhythm and energy especially for this program!

It presents the entire program including warm up and cool down in a user friendly format. Dr Lam incorporates the tai chi principles to enhance your understanding and enjoyment.

Hi Very easy to use and well organised. As somebody that has not done Tai Chi before I was hoping for an easy to use and organised instruction and progression. It is well put together and I feel like I am learning, improving and feeling better. Thanks

    Better Health

I am doing a U3A Tai Chi program using Dr. Lam's Arthritis program as I have constant back pain but I felt I needed more so purchased my own DVD and it's great as it gives me options to do the movements standing or sitting down. My pain is less, I go to the Chiropractor less and my breathing has improved. Love the gentle movements, detailed explanations and visuals.

    ENCOURAGES PRACTICE

Posted by Katrine Kennedy on 21st Aug 2018

For many of the participants in my classes The Tai Chi for Arthritis Handbook encourages practice more than the DVD. The handbook is more portable than a DVD player and is used in a different way. Some of the participants hold the handbook while they practise the form. The handbook is a good size and shape and easy to hold for those with arthritis in their hands, yet the text is still easy to read. Others leave the handbook on a table, open at the place they're up to. Every time they pass the table and see the open book they stop and practise some tai chi. Being able to practise tai chi independently is an empowering experience for the participants.

    For beginners

I recently did a pain management course and we had two sessions on Tai Chi. I fell in love with it. I have had to give up Zumba and Pilates. I have a stretching program at home and a stationary bike. But this I love. I put the dvd in and it actually helps the pain. Gentle soft movement. You can do it sitting in a chair, or standing. Easy to follow. Disc 1 . warm up and session 1 - has a group of people. forward facing and one person sitting. Dr Lam has his back to you for some of the time. There is warm down also. and interesting facts about Tai Chi. I am waiting on a class to start in my area, but will still use my dvd at home.

Prue Grace in Teaching Tai Chi

Posted by Irene Bryan on 9th Jul 2018

Dr Lam and his very inspiring colleagues and instructors have added to the formula of Dr Lam's vision to bring Tai Chi to the world: old or young, sick or well. Whatever condition you are in you can follow this DVD everything is explained. Dr Lam is gentle, wise and patiently explains the steps by breaking them down and providing a very comprehensive program. I would highly recommend this DVD to anyone who may want to improve there health and especially if you suffer from any arthritic condition... It can only help and will give you something positive to practice :) All the best and much health and healing, may Tai Chi improve your life as it has mine.

    explanatory help

This DVD is a wonderful back up and reinforcement of a course I am presently undertaking with U3A. I really like the way the doctor explains what we are doing and why. It's a huge help to me and I enjoy being able to follow the instructions at home and in my own time. It backs up what we do in class and I can follow it every day. I am about to turn 80 and until recently have been line dancing. However back problems have forced me to discontinue this exercise and I am happy that I have discovered Tai Chi as a softer and calmer form of enjoyment. Thank you Dr Lam.
