I used the CD in both my classes this morning, but didn't mention to my pupils that it was new, wanting to get their reaction.

Within a couple of minutes of starting the first track they were asking what the beautiful new music was, and commenting on how relaxing they found it. It is always difficult to find suitable music, and the wrong type can be very distracting. We really liked the fact that on one CD there are tracks suitable for several different tai chi styles. Normally I would change my CDs after the warm up, and sometimes again for the cool down, but we let this one play all the way through, and really enjoyed it.

Everyone was interested in the fact that Dr Lam's daughter plays on the CD, and would love to know more about how the project came about.

This is my tai chi story, I was ill for 50 years from 1944 to 1994 and the NHS in the UK did very little to find the cause. In fact in 1968 the first time they looked at why I kept getting recurrent jaundice - they said it was called steatorrhoea and caused by a high IQ and nerves...rubbish.

It was in 1994 I discovered it was caused by coeliac disease and dairy products and it had caused me not to be able to walk for 14 years.

Now what to do when my GP said "I was too allergic for the NHS to help"...

I ended up in complementary mediicne not really undersanding why the NHS could not help me.

I found a person to teach me tai chi and learnt a form and much more.

I started to walk again and though my balance is not really good it is heaps better and I have not fallen over now for around 8 years from hypoglycaemia....I am not diabetic the diet of 50 years has caused me liver, pancreas etc problems.

I am now learning with a person who has studied tai chi for around 10 years and pleased to do that. Different forms and movements.

I am pleased and though I was told I would be permanently in a wheelchair in 1995 I am not. I do have RA and OA and osteoporosis but holding my own using complementary medicine. I am now fully qualified in it after 9 years of training and ND and PhD etc.

So thanks to tai chi I can walk, can have fun, can feel more confident and no the NHS cannot give me any pain killers cos of allergies but tai chi can at least keep me moving.

Thanks tai chi and it works. My friend also practises Katsu that comes from tai chi and the healing arts.

And the energy flowed!

I ordered the new Tai Chi Music 2 and took it to my TCA class this morning. I explained to the class that the music was specifically designed for TCA I&II and would require us to move slower than we were used to going. We started the music and began the form. Within a few seconds I became aware of the quiet concentration as we all flowed in unison with the music. By the end of the form, the energy in the room was palpable. The class LOVED it! We all want to thank you, Dr Lam, and Andrea and her friends for creating this beautiful and moving cd.

Tai Chi Music 2

This week at my 6 classes (2 TCA) I played the CD for the duration of the class. Participants were told it was a new CD and the origins for its
composition.
The unsolicited response from participants that came forward was enthusastic,
many asking to purchase. Comments ranged from "easy to listen to", "calming", "I can really get into the Tai Chi rhythm", and "I feel really relaxed just listening to the music."
It was only after I started some personal practice later in the day, that I played the CD again and found I was hearing more in the music than before. I listened again but this time fully relaxed, mind calm.
The realisaton that my students had described the Four Principles of Tai Chi
in their comments struck me. The lows, highs and flowing sounds fit so firmly in Tai Chi forms. My favourite, my class participants new favourite, a teaching aid, thank you.

Review of Tai Chi Music CD 2

The gentle, soulful instrumental sounds float into our awareness allowing us to quietly recognize our own inner strength and capabilities. It is this subtle power and perfection that defines the true definition of Tai Chi. This CD is healing and inviting. The music for Tai Chi for Kidz allows the imagination and imagery to be unleashed. Bravo for this truly masterful expression of what the core of our well being feels like.

Thumbs up Tai Chi Music CD Volume 2

As a professional musician, I can really appreciate the exceptionally high quality of this CD. It is gorgeous! Beautiful compositions, highest quality playing and nice variety. The playing here is world-class and breathtakingly beautiful. I, too, would like to know more about the "back story" of this CD. Composer, players, instruments etc. Did I recognize an erhu? Congratulations to all involved with this project, it is superb!
5 (out of 5) stars!

Moving Music

Hello!

Tai Chi and Music are entwined to enhance harmonic balance in body, mind, and spirit. Dr. Lam's Tai Chi music 2 sets the stage for deep relaxation balanced with lighter tones, like an impressionist painting. My favorites are #3, Music for Sun Style. This blend feels like water rippling over rocks with trees lining a quiet pond. Chen Style music #5 has a floating oriental feel. The gentle tones remind me of clouds and colors.

Along with Tai Chi practice, this CD is also useful as meditation or as background for creative work such as writing or painting.

Dr. Lam's daughters's gentle yet strong piano speaks to all of us along with her musician friends who created this musical event.
